HIS WORKMANSHIP

Sue O’Donnell. 29.08.20

“O LORD, You have searched me and know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up, You understand my thoughts afar off.” (Psalm 139 v 1, 2)

Holy Spirit, Preacher, Teacher,

Leader guiding us towards Jesus, as Saviour.

Make plain God’s will to us.

Be our entire spiritual development daily

In the knowledge and understanding of Christ Jesus,

So we humbly admit our dependence on the Trinity.

“You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.” (Psalm 139 v 3, 4)

Help us please to so know the Lord Jesus,

We will better adhere to Him, follow Him, serve Him

Because we are the Lord God’s works of art,

Re-created in Christ Jesus as was ever intended.

Enlighten us to succeed in all that is of our Saviour Brother,

For thereby we discover the infinite love of our Father.

“ ‘All who love Me will do what I say, My Father will love them, and We will welcome and make Our home with each of them.” (John 14 v 23 NLT)

Inflame us by the wisdom and truth found in Jesus,

In all holy truth, such a God given grace.

Please be in our trials, tribulations and turmoil,

Carried safely along by the love Jesus offers us.

Thank You for revealing Him as our burden Bearer.

What a comfort and reassurance this is, an offering of peace.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor power, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created things, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8 v 38, 39)

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2 v 10)

Please pray that being workmanship at the hands of the Trinity, we help consecrate the world to the glory of God. All thanks ever be to You, Lord Jesus, “The same yesterday, and today, and for ever,” (Hebrews 13 v 8) for sending us the consecrating Spirit, without whom we make no progress in Your way of holiness.

May the whole earth come to praise You, dear Jesus “When they hear the words of Your mouth,” (Psalm 139 v 4) spoken in all wisdom, for You manifest God’s truth to us and we become receptive through Your Spirit of faith.

“Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD” (v 5) “Blessed is the (wo)man whose strength is in You,” (Psalm 84 v 5) because they turned to the Holy Spirit for help and support, so “Go from strength to strength.” (v 7)

What is our experience thereby? “A day in Your courts is better than a thousand” (v 18) anywhere else at all. In sincerity we can say “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God” being at least within reach of our Father’s love and mercy, “Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” (Cont.)

For You, by Your Spirit, have shown our Father to be the One who provides for us and protects us ever lovingly. In You, through You, Lord Jesus, by means of the Spirit, we become the workmanship of the Holy

Trinity.

“The LORD will give grace and glory” (Psalm 84 v 11) as You live within us, our friendship formed and flourishing by the Holy Spirit of love. “No good thing will the Lord God withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (based on v 11)

Yes, richly blessed are we who trust in You as true love manifest, the One who fulfils each of the Lord God’s promises to us, Lord Jesus. “In the day when I cried out” feeling lost in life, seeing little point to our daily existence, “You answered me” (Psalm 138 v 3) thank You.

I cannot actually thank You sufficiently. By Your faith building Spirit, You turned my life around completely, making “Me bold with strength in my soul,” (Cont) daring to hope in You and longing to serve You.

I see, I hear, I feel, I experience the Lord God’s faithfully steadfast, all loving kindness toward us, as by the Holy Spirit “You have hedged me behind and before and laid Your hand upon me” (Psalm 139 v 5) thankfully.

I now understand much more fully than previously, what faith really means, its message and the means by which we try to live up to the highest standards as set for us. “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or wher can I flee from Your presence?” (v 7) Nowhere fortunately!

The love and mercy of the holy Trinity is all encompassing, life giving, a foretaste of heaven, all thanks to Your friendship Lord Jesus, and the Spirit who teaches us how to worship.

“You formed us in our inward parts,” (v 13 the singular changed to plural) for the Lord our God had plans for mankind, calling us to experience heaven even whilst here upon earth.

“I will praise you for we are fearfully and wonderfully made.” (v 14) Even my six month old granddaughter recognises already someone or something is new to her experience. “Marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (Cont)

Made in the likeness and image of God, I pray that all human life will be respected and honoured from conception to the grave. Currently, society is exposed to the truth that “Black Lives Matter” (a popular

caption). May the Holy Spirit underline our understanding of all aspects of life.

That is life as our Father intended, dear Lord, Brother and Saviour. “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them they would be more in number than the sand.” (v 17, 18)

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me” (v 23) and please help me to deal with all my faults and failings, so I can better be Your workmanship, a child who lives for Your glory, Holy Trinity. Please then “Lead me in the way everlasting” (v 24) which is the homeland in heaven You promise us, Father God.

Thank You for all that You are to us, mean to us, do for us through Your Son, by Your Spirit. I believe You “Will perfect that which concerns me,” (Psalm 138 v 8) for the Lord Jesus is my Saviour, the Holy Spirit my Sanctifier.

“Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever” of this I am certain, for why else would Your Son live, die and rise again for us? Ever let us venerate Him at the †, pleading “Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” (Cont)

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,” according to Your merciful kindness towards us, ever loving Father, “These are sons (and daughters) of Yours,” (based on Romans 8 v 14) created to be Your work of art through Jesus, by the work of the Holy Spirit.

We are richly blessed to be possessed of the Lord Jesus, by the Spirt of adoption. May Yours as a Trinity be “‘The kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” (Matthew 6 v 13)
